Access Statement

  We specialize in affordable group accommodation in the heart of Newquay, on one of Cornwall's beautiful coast lines. We aim to cater for the needs of all guests in this 7 bed lodge. We also have a luxury self catering studio apartment perfect for couples and singles. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions about our access statement please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, email or letter and we will endeavor to help.

 

Pre-Arrival

  • You can contact the lodge by phone from 9am -10pm 7 days a week, email or letter (details below)
  • Access statement is available on our website or can be posted or emailed in large print (16 font) if required
  • The lodge is a 30 second walk in to the town centre, no need for car or other public transport
  • The lodge is a 30 second walk to Town beach, the central beach in Newquay. One entrance to the beach has a ramp and another entrance has stairs.
  • The lodge is a 15 minute taxi drive from the local airport, a few local taxi services has assessable taxis if required
  • An hourly buss service also runs from the airport to Newquay Town centre
  • The central bus station is only 480 meters from the lodge.
  • The central train station is only 800 meters from the lodge


Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • No designated car parking for guests
  • Residential parking 50 meters from the lodge where guests can park if there is space, for free.
  • 3 secured local car parks nearest to lodge with pay and display include: Manor Road car park, Fore Street car park and St George\'s Hill car park, all which can be found on Google Maps.
  • Please try to provide advance notice if assistance will be needed to move to and from cars.


Main Entrance and Reception

  • Two Entrances to the lodge, the main entrance is assessable from the side of the building up wooden staircase with 6 steps, handrails on both sides. Another entrance to the lodge is inside On the Rocks Bar, at the back of the building up ___ stairs, no hand rails as yet but will be looking to change this in May 2010.
  • Well lit lighting throughout the entire lodge with night time emergency lighting outside front of lodge for late check-ins.
  • Entrance signs in large font and well lit.
  • No seating for guests as yet but this is something we will looking to chance in the reception room from May 2010
  • Opening times for reception are from 9am to 6pm, (in main season)
  • A phone number for a member of staff is displayed on the door if office is closed and you need assistance 24 hours a day, this is in large font (16 + font)
  • Late check-ins can be arranged in advance for collections of keys and Bond monies, if possible please call in advance to let us know.
  • Extra room keys can be issued if requested.


Public Areas - Hall, Landing and Corridors

  • Good color contrast to floor, walls and doorways throughout the building.
  • Well lit corridors.
  • Floor covering is Carpet.
  • 2 steps from main entrance to hallway corridor no hand rail.
  • Once on hallway from main entrance all rooms are on one level

• No public areas .i.e. sitting room, communal area etc...

• No public WCs


Restaurant / Dining Room

• No Restaurant / dining room etc...


Laundry

• No laundry facilities on site however the nearest local launderette is only 480 meters from lodge, there contact phone number is: 01637 874945.


Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

  • Three 4 bedded rooms, with two sets of single bunk beds, en-suite bath room attached with a toilet shower and wash basin.
  • One 6 bedded room, with two sets of single bunk beds and a mezzanine level assessable by wooden stairs. Large en-suite bath room attached with toilet, shower and wash basin.
  • One 3 bedded room with one set of single bunks and a mezzanine level assessable by wooden stairs. En-suite bathroom attached with toilet, shower and wash basin
  • Two 3 bedded room with one double bunk at the bottom and single bunk at the top, en-suite bathroom attached with toilet, shower and wash basin.
  • All rooms come with full length mirrors and also have fire/smoke alarms in them
  • The Studio apartment sleeps between 2 - 4 people and has an En-suite shower room attached to the kitchen. The Studio apartment consists of two double beds, one on a mezzanine level assessable by wooden stairs. No hand rails as yet but this is something we will be looking to change from May 2010. The other double bed is in the form of a double pull out sofa bed in the living room.
  • The apartment comes with a private kitchen with a cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and an electric hob. There is a small table in the studio apartment to sit 2; the apartment also comes with kitchen utilities. The living room has a 38 widescreen plasma TV.
  • None of the rooms in the lodge or apartment are suitable for wheelchair users. 


Additional Information

  • No pets or dogs (but service dogs are welcome).
  • No smoking.
  • A member of staff is always available if needed by phone, contact details are on the reception door in large print (16+)
  • Emergency lighting and fire alarms fitted. We ensure that all guests are evacuated in the event of fire or any emergency requiring evacuation.
  • Evacuation procedures shown in each bedroom and are also available in large font if requested.
  • There is no mobile phone reception in the vicinity of the lodge
